“The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

UPDATE 12/3/08

Thank you to ALL of you who provided a meal, physical labor and prayers for the Lind and Arana families.  Thank you to All of you who offered your help as well, there were many people willing to help in anyway possible.  The response was overwhelming and such a blessing.  Your compassion is the true meaning of what a "church" is and such an example of Christ to many people.  We are providing a meal for the Arana family every other day for four weeks.  Within the first hour of sending the email for help, we filled every day!  Not only did we provide meals for this family, many of you showed up to help them clean up after the fire. You helped move and pack for hours.  After all that hard work, you showed up last Saturday to haul sandbags over the slopes to keep the land from sliding.  Again, thank you.  The Lind family has been cleaning up and putting jute on their slope as well.  So many people showed up to help this week until we found out that the home was once again evacuated and declared a disaster area.  The danger is too great of erosion and slides, so as of now, we are waiting to see what can be done.  Thank you to all of you who signed up to provide lunch for the people working on the Lind's home.  Please continue to pray for both of these families during this Christmas time.  Through this time of trial, you have shown the light of Christ and touched people with your compassion all over Yorba Linda, members of our church family as well as neighbors, police officers, insurance representatives and many others!  God tells us to love our neighbors and you have done just that.

UPDATE 11/20

The following 3 families from our church have been displaced from their homes due to the fires:

The Arana Family – Alex, Kim, Andrew (11), Aaron (8), and Aidan (4)

The Lind Family – Harold, Marie, Harrison (16) and Katie (12)

The Rechnitzer Family – Dan & Kimberly. (Kimberly is 8 months pregnant)

We as a church family have come alongside them and let them know we will assist them during this difficult time. Would you please continue to pray for these families as well as others in our communities who have been affected by the fires.

We are thankful for the Lord’s protection for our church home. View photos of The Rock and surrounding areas after the fire. Several families in our church were affected by the fires. We are working to identify their needs and see how the church can help. If you have been affected by the fires and are in need of help, or if you are able to assist the families that are in need during this time, please email the church at therock@psalm61.org.

UPDATE 11/15 at 9PM

Dear Church Family:

We have much to be thankful for.

Thank you to each of you who has demonstrated such kindness to the fire emergency and crisis. Many of you have responded by offering your homes to anyone in need. We have contacted one family and offered basic necessities since their home is a total loss. As needs are identified, we'll accept your generous offers.

Our church home at Via Del Rio is safe. At this hour the street is still closed. In addition we are taking into consideration the terrible air quality, soot and ash and the stress that many of our famlies are under in trying to pack their belongings and be prepared to evacuate. THERE WILL BE NO EVENTS/ACTIVITIES THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH.

Please stay in touch by email and by checking the TRCC website several times a day, or by calling one another. If we schedule any special times of prayer, we'll post it on the website and email you all. In the meantime, continue in prayer and reading God's Word. Comfort, encourage and love one another.

"Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God." Hebrews 13:15-16, NLT

In Christ,

EMAIL SENT TO THE CONGREGATION on 11/15 at 9:15PM
Dear Church Family,

Thank you for your prayers for one another and The Rock. As of Saturday evening, our church building is untouched by the fires! However, after consulting with fire personnel in our church family, we have been advised not to schedule services for tomorrow morning due to continued road closures and fires.

Therefore, the following will NOT be held on Sunday, 11/16: Sunday morning services, Student Ministries Annual Turkey Bowl, Children's Ministries Servant Workshop. EE Family & Student Ministries Flood is tentative for Sunday evening. Please check back on Sunday at 2PM for the status of these programs, as well as a rescheduled all-church service or prayer time.

Thank you for calling one another earlier today. Please do so again and help us get the word out to each person in the church. We'd like each of you to personally call each person you know at The Rock and make sure they know we will not be holding services tomorrow morning. Ask them to check the church website at 2PM on Sunday for further information.

We are thankful for the Lord's protection of the building, but know many of you have been affected by the fires personally. Please know that we, as a staff, continue to hold each of you in prayer. At this time, all of those in our church family who have reported in are safe from harm and not injured. Many of you outside the fire areas have graciously offered your home for others at The Rock. If you or another TRCC family are in need, please continue to email us at therock@psalm61.org so we can care for one another.

Please join us in continuing to pray for the Lord's protection over one another, as well as the community, fire fighters, and police.

Sincerely in Christ,
The Rock Staff

EMAIL SENT TO THE CONGREGATION on 11/15 at 3:30PM
Dear Church Family:

I am praying for you. Kay and I have evacuated our home in Yorba Linda and we want to encourage you. God is in control. Pray for one another. Be ready to help one another. Check the TRCC webpage for information. We will use it to communicate as long as we have access to it.

I am comforted and reassured by our Daily Bible reading today. It says:
"Praise the Lord! Yes, give praise, O servants of the Lord. Praise the name of the Lord! Blessed be the name of the Lord now and forever. Everywhere—from east to west— praise the name of the Lord. For the Lord is high above the nations; his glory is higher than the heavens. Who can be compared with the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high? He stoops to look down on heaven and on earth. He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump." Psalm 113:1-7, NLT

Our God sees you, He loves you and so do we.

EMAIL SENT TO THE CONGREGATION on 11/15 at 1:45PM
Dear TRCC Family,

Please keep our church families in prayer, as many have been evacuated due to the Yorba Linda/Corona/Brea fires. Due to evacuations of homes east of the church and road closures, Saturday Service will NOT be held tonight (11/15). Sunday Services are PENDING. Please regularly check the church website for additional information.

Many in our family may not receive this email before tonight. Would you please take some time right now to personally call each person you know at The Rock to let them know of this email? Certainly, some will receive multiple phone calls, but we don't want to miss anyone. Please ask everyone to check the church website for information about the status of Sunday Services.

If you know of one of our church families affected by the fires or in need of help during this time, please email the church at therock@psalm61.org. Please include cell phone contact information. We will do our best to care for the needs of our church families as soon as possible.

Above all, please continue to pray for one another, those in fire areas, and the many fire fighters working to protect the community. We serve a great, sovereign God and place our trust in Him and Him alone.

In Christ,
The Rock Staff
